WHAT YOUR TOP FIVE SAYS ABOUT YOU.
There are so many things in our life that we don't even think about. We just go about our day to day movements and don't really give much thought to what is surrounding us and how it can affect us. Until we hit a block, or we realize how unhappy we are, or how much we wish we were living a different life than the one we are living. It usually takes something big for us to open our eyes to what could be causing all of these things that are not working for us.
This happened to me recently while teaching my son a valuable lesson. It opened my eyes to exactly what was happening to me and changes that I needed to make if I was going to reach my goals, live my dreams, and up my game.
My son is finishing up middle school and it's been a challenging ride to say the least. He is super smart and mature for his age and has struggled with making friends that he has things in common with. He is at the top of his class academically and was even named Student of the Year last year for his grade. My older son attended a local private school for boys and absolutely loved it and Iwanted the same for my youngest son.
When talking about switching schools with my son, he said, "Why would I want to leave the school I am at when I am at the top of my class and well known for being an exceptional all around student and go somewhere where it is potentially harder and I might not be at the top anymore." (See I told you he was smart and beyond his years).
I took a pause and I thought about what he said. He had a good point, right? In a world where striving to be at the top seems to be the ultimate game we all play, why not just settle in and stay where it's safe and easy and you are already at the top? Why jeopardize that spot and make things more difficult for yourself?
I will tell you why.
